Jill Gurr is a well known Hollywood screen writer but one of her greatest achievements has nothing to do with casting top Hollywood stars in the roles for her films. Instead it has to do with her opening up to troubled teens so they can find something more productive to do with their time. Gurr firmly believes early intervention with troubled teens can make all the difference in how their life plays out.
Gurr got interested in helping troubled teens in 1992 when she volunteered to mentor troubled teens who were trying to cope with the events of the riots that took place in Los Angeles. Instead of being frightened by the troubled teens she met who were using drugs or getting into trouble with the law you yearned for a way to make a difference in their lives.
Here idea was that troubled teens could use creative expression to break away from the behaviors that were taking them in the wrong direction. Getting involved in something that motivates you tends to give it a priority over other things in your life that aren’t producing positive results.
Gurr introduced the non-profit organization called Create Now. This is a great way for troubled teens to turn their experiences and creative ideas into screen plays that can be produced. Some of these troubled teens have even found themselves getting auditions for various productions due to their work in the Create Now foundation.
There have been plenty of success stories that have resulted from the efforts of Gurr and her Create Now foundation. Giving troubled teens a chance to turn their lives around and even develop a rewarding career is something Gurr gives her whole heart to. She is very proud of the foundation and of the troubled teens who have worked so hard to make a positive change in their lives.
