Are There Natural ADHD Remedies That Work?

Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder is a more recent disorder which particularly applies to children and more so in boys. But controversy dogs the subject. Some even argue that it is not even a disorder. But whatever the case, there are indeed many so-called natural remedies suggested as being helpful in the treatment of ADHD.

Natural remedies for most diseases and conditions have been around for thousands of years. All manner of such remedies are around today as a walk down the aisle of any supermarket health section will reveal. So too in large pharmacies. But do they work?

Well first it might be wise to look at certain things within the life of your active or over-active child. Do they get too much sugar? It might be that chocolate contributes the lively activity of your son or daughter. And it’s not just sweets or candy which might be the culprit. Some children are allergic to other foods such as flour, honey, eggs and dairy products.

You may not need natural remedies to help your child but simply a change in their diet. Find out if certain foods set off a chain reaction and remove those foods.

Another possible cause of hyper active behavior can be toxics in the body. These can occur after a visit to the dentist and a filling in the child’s tooth. Sometimes a vaccination against future infection can trigger a response. Again you need to find out if toxins are a cause and if so, cleanse your child’s body.

Remember that ADHD is not restricted to children and even adults can suffer from such a condition. But one natural remedy for any aged sufferer is controlled exercises. There are routines which a person can perform which help them control their unusual behavior. This is a cheap and natural remedy.

Of course there are prescribed drugs which a sufferer can take but again if natural remedies are preferred then essential oils have proved both popular and successful with many facing the disorder. It is believed that certain pure essential oils can infiltrate the body and assist in calming the person. Lavender and cedar wood oils have been shown in trials to have a calming affect on hyper active children.

One major method of treatment is to remove problems within the sufferer’s life. An adult or child can be unhappy at school, home or work and this unhappiness triggers different behavioral responses. Change the situation, remove the unhappiness and the problem may be solved completely if not greatly reduced.

Different studies show that up to 20% of young children suffer some form of ADHD and that this disorder can continue through the teenage years and into adulthood. Medical practitioners have prescribed drugs which many parents believe have been hugely successful.

But if you’d prefer a natural remedy there are many including removing sugar and other foods from the diet, sensible specific exercises, essential oils, removal of toxins and best of all, changing the unhappy environment.
