“The G.R.I.P. program, formerly known as Alternatives to Gang Membership, combines the resources of families, schools, and local government. The program attempts to discourage future gang membership by teaching children the harmful consequences of this lifestyle and by persuading them to choose positive alternatives.
GRIP - Gang Resistance Is Paramount - is a successful, nationally recognized anti-gang program that steers children away from gang membership through classroom lessons, counseling and parental training. GRIP counselors present gang resistance lessons to elementary and ninth-grade students attending school in Paramount. Workshops and counseling sessions for parents and youngsters are also conducted throughout the community.”
